High Scoring Affairs, Epic Comebacks, and Divine Intervention Assists

What a week! Easily the most exciting week so far this season, week 5 was full of high scores and close matchups – some down to the wire!

On to the recaps!

Recaps

HSG edges Sandstorms in epic comeback, 162-161

In what truly was the matchup of the week presented by Kalshi (thanks Yahoo), DaVante Adams needed all 18 of his points to scrape by Sandstorms by a single point. Jordan Love (29), Gibbs (37), and Mike Evans (21) also helped the lead the way. Funny thing though, at 4:16PM EST, the league was greeted with this gem of a quote.

“Psa: I had my phone on airplane mode all morning/afternoon so I could record/watch the Eagles game after church. Which was rather disappointing, while I also forgot to put Jefferson in my lineup”.

Well that was disappointing, considering Jefferson had 13 but the question we had was… who would have Tim replaced? His receivers were Flowers (8), Evans (21), and Adams (18) in the flex. We got our answer, and it would have been Evans… As Jordan put it,

“Tim with the divine intervention assist”

The good news for Tim is that he wasn’t able to change his lineup late Sunday morning thanks to the Eagles playing in London.

Nice.

Squatches take out Icecaps, 162-154

Who knew this would come down to Tyler Allgeier vs. Marshawn Lloyd? It was an overall impressive showing from the Squatches who had three starters score over 23 points. Late waiver wire add MarShawn Lloyd even put up 16 in a critical spot start, proving to be the difference. If there was a weakness it was the receiving room, as Waddle and Doubs combined for five points.

It keeps piling on for the Icecaps after their emphatic week one win. Likely (23), Henry (21) and fantasy MVP kicker Shrader (21) were excellent starts. Nacua (25) almost made a legendary comeback but ultimately wasn’t enough. Jack’s waiver wire spot start of Tyler Allgeier was not as successful as the Lloyd pickup from Ezra, as Allgeier scored one point. Will we see this team make a move this week?

Piranhas hold off GWW, win 164-153

It was a rather impressive lineup as Winston (32), Burrow (33), Allen (19), Bowers (17) and the Vikings defense (14) were part of the SEVEN starters that scored over 14 points. Kyren and Burrow made immediate impacts as Jordan picked up a critical win to fight off a Bucky Irving explosion Thursday night.

“This is feeling like a very similar situation on a Thursday night”

We hear ya Galen. Screw the yahoo schedulers. After Bucky Irving (32) sent a message Thursday night, the rest of the team followed suit. The problem is the Piranhas still scored more points. Goff and Daniels both scored over 30 but the waiver wire defense pickup was a disaster – scoring -5.5 points. We need to hope the schedulers will do this team some favors down the stretch.

Stafford completes comeback to beat Thunder, 149-146

Shockingly not the closest matchup this week, Stafford needed all 33 of his points to complete the comeback win against the Thunder. Pickens (21), Reichard (16), and the Texans defense (18) led the way to put this squad right back into the mix.

While 146 may seem like a lot, it was the third lowest score of the week. Lawrence (26) and Parker Washington (24) had a great performance in London, while JSN (19) and Fairbairn (17) did their part. It just wasn’t enough in a high scoring week across the league.

Misfits benefit from Schedulers, take down Dawgs, 138-84

Hey, were just playing who is on the schedule. Generally, when you score the ninth highest points on a given week, (a nicer way of saying second lowest score) we can count that as a loss. Not this week. Playing the lowest score this week will get the Misfits to 5-0. Allen (35), Nabers (21), CMC (15), and Stevenson (15) were nice compliments on a day where the rest of the roster wasn’t particularly impressive. Darn you yahoo schedulers!

84 points. That’s all Nick could muster this week. With half the roster in single digits and the entire starting lineup with less than 16, there’s little chance to win. Let’s hope next week is different.

WAIVER WIRE

To be completely honest, there’s nothing notable on waivers from Tuesday night. The highest bid was Germie Bernard at $3 for Jack.

There has been a trade at the release of this article!
