Merry Christmas Eve!
What a weekend! The semifinals certainly did not disappoint! With an average margin of victory of just two points, every decision mattered even more.
On to the recaps!
Championship Semifinals
Misfits Survive GWW Late Push Despite Low Scoring Totals, 120.46 – 119.11
Both these teams can be thankful the semifinals don’t go to the highest scorers. Actually, the 120 & 119 points were the second and third lowest scores across the entire league! While the Misfis have dominated most of the season, this was far from one. Rolling out Joe Burrow (37) and Caleb Williams (25), the rest of the roster didn’t crack 15 points. Plus, he can be glad Williams and the Bears put something together in the final minutes and overtime, or else this score would be worse! With six starters in single digits, it’s survive and advance for a club looking for their first League Title. Let’s hope the pressure doesn’t get to them Championship Sunday, like it did in 2022.
It started off bad, and I mean really badly. Five starters combined for 20 points going into Sunday. Starting out with Cam Ward in the lineup, talk of Quinn Ewers getting the call surfaced. I mean, what was there to lose anyway? Unfortunately, everything! Lawrence (39) put on another show and Ewers ending up scoring six. On the bench Ward scored 22, as Galen was down 31 points heading into Monday night with CMC. Needing McCaffrey to score 31 to forget about the debacle of Quinn Ewers, CMC scored… 30. The debacle of Quinn Ewers begins.
Squatches Edge Thunder in Another Thriller, 153.78 – 151.30
Clearly exceeding the low expectations from the first semifinal matchup, this matchup also came down to the wire. The Squatches needed every single one of his 11 touchdowns from the squad. Hurts (24), Cousins (22), Pickens (21), Hampton (17), and Derrick Henry (24) all led the way including Henry who would seal the win late on Sunday night. If we want to talk about most deserving, it’s this team who has battled season ending injury after season ending injury. Around eight season ending injuries later, this franchise is looking for their third Championship, and first since 2022.
Once again, there will not be a repeat winner in the league. That’s a win for league parity! Scoring a reasonable 151, it wasn’t enough against a Squatches team who wanted it more. Nacua (37), Maye (29), Harvey (20) and the Vikings defense (15) all were solid, but could not keep up with the touchdown scoring machine that was the Squatches. Compared to the Squatches 11 touchdowns scored, the Thunder scored just six. Hard to overcome. Normally reliant on Josh Allen, his seven points was his lowest score this season and cost this franchise a chance to repeat as champions.
Consolation
Icecaps Destroy Piranhas in 5th Place Game, 166-114
Are we sure we don’t want to start taking highest scores in the playoffs? Jack sure does as this will probably go down as another what if season. Every touchdown, score makes an impact in games, seeding, matchups and outcomes and decides the eventual champion whether we want to believe it or not. What Jack needs to figure out is, how can we set up fantasy football to reward the best teams on a consistent basis? I will wait for suggestions.
The 114 was the lowest score in the entire league from the Piranhas. After being one of the only teams to make back-to-back championship appearances in 2018 and 2019, Jordan is realizing making the Championship is harder than it first seemed.
Bottom Four
Avalanche def. Hurts so Good, 166 – 130
Sandstorms def. Prairie Dawgs, 139 – 129
The Avalanche took down HSG on the backs of five players scoring over 17 including (Darnold, Goff, Warren, Barkley, and JSN), while the Sandstorms earned the win against the Dawgs thanks to Brown and Olave (both 29) and the Saints defense (23). Both those teams will battle for seventh place, and have avoided last place. The same cannot be said for HSG and the Prairie Dawgs.
Last Place Matchup
Who will don the bacon suit after this season? Hurts so Good will take on the Praire Dawgs in what will end up being a thrilling last place matchup!
The Prairie Dawgs will look to avoid becoming the second team to finish last in back-to-back seasons. Galen was the first to achieve that feat back in the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
Record Book
Tim finished last once back in 2016, while Nick has finished last three times dating back to 2017, 2020, and 2024. Not great.

Waiver Wire Update
Even though we’re one day from Christmas, there is not a lot to be merry about if you’re the Squatches. For the third week in a row, Ezra has been outbid. However the difference is that this time, the player who out bid him (Jack) isn’t even playing a matchup this week. Fair or foul?
Of course, if you’re playing to avoid last or have matchups with implications, then by all means you should be allowed to bid. Although some may disagree with that as well. But if you have nothing to play for…
Certainly the league will look into things of this nature for next season and decide if changes need to be made.
More News
Brock Bowers has been placed on IR ending his season. Once again, a season-ending injury has struck the Squatches team. Still, against all odds this squad is playing for their third championship. Talk about gluing glass back together!
On to the Final Week!
Merry Christmas from the league offices! Have a wonderful holiday!
Cheers!
