I would like to take a brief moment and go back in time, just two weeks ago to week 12.
I completely forgot what had transpired Thursday night, missing a golden opportunity for the title. Shoutout Jordan for the idea.
“BBL Consensus Saves Tim From Himself”
It’s a story that is too good to ignore and continue to move on from. We must highlight it!
Right as the Thursday Night game started at 815, Tim wanted to sub out the Texans defense for the Jags defense, only to find out the Texans had been locked in right at 815.
Asking the League if he should be allowed to swap, the league declined, noting the late admission past game time to switch defenses. Tim was stuck with the Texans.
The Texans ended up scoring 21, while the Jags scored 13. Tim can thank his league mates for saving him from his own start/sit decisions.
Thank you for allowing me to briefly go down memory lane, two weeks ago.
This Most Recent Week
With one week to go, the playoff picture became much clearer. We know the six teams that will compete for the Championship later this month. The only thing that needs to be decided now are the matchups and seeding.
Week 13 Quick Recap
The Misfits clinched a bye with a win over the Squatches, and the Piranhas routed the Dawgs to be in play for the bye. GWW and Icecaps also earned wins to fuel their respective Title runs. In other news, the Sandstorms won their third straight, which seemed unthinkable just a month ago.
Quick Hitters
MISFITS, 10-3
No matter what happens, Ben has clinched a bye and will be playing week 16. Swinging big once again, they will now have Joe Burrow and Jahmyr Gibbs for their playoff run. Perhaps this team has put itself in a great position to silence the doubters.
THUNDER, 9-4
In play for the bye, if they win against the Squatches they get it. Scuffling after dropping two straight, this is not the time to falter. The other bad news? No Drake Maye this week. Their hopes lie in the health of Drake London and Garrett Wilson for their Championship hopes.
ICECAPS, 8-5
Winners of two straight, the bye is back in play. A win and a Thunder loss would almost assuredly give this team the bye based on points. They need Lamar Jackson to pick up the slack if they are planning to make a deep postseason run. They face a surging GWW team this weekend that has something to say about that.
PIRANHAS, 8-5
Also in play for the bye, not only would they need a win and Thunder loss, but they would need to score about 50 more points than the Thunder, while also needing to still outscore the Icecaps, (depending on the Icecap outcome). With the way the Piranhas have scored lately, it’s certainly on the table.
SQUATCHES, 8-5
What I just wrote out for the Piranhas, applies here to the Squatches, however they would need to score even more points to cut the points deficit. The goods news is they have the direct head-to-head against the Thunder this week, so step one is to take them down. Everything is still in front of this team.
GWW, 7-6
The bye is out of play, but the playoffs aren’t! Rallying to clinch a playoff spot is good enough, and this team is peaking at the right time. Scoring over 135 back-to-back weeks, there is a wide range of outcomes for this team seeding wise. They will look to keep the momentum rolling against the Icecaps this week.
MISSED PLAYOFFS
PRAIRIE DAWGS, 5-8
The new owner of Jonathan Taylor, there just wasn’t enough firepower on this team. And that’s with Jahmyr Gibbs on the roster all year.
AVALANCHE, 4-9
This team was hot and cold this year, none more evident than the last two weeks. After scoring over 130 last week, they put up 80 this week. Mostly because the connection of Darnold and JSN combined for six points. Tough.
SANDSTORMS, 4-9
Don’t look at their record, this team is hot! Winners of three straight, it’s too little too late. But hey, any positive momentum is good, especially when you’re trying to avoid last.
HSG, 2-11
This one’s tough because the points say they should be the seventh best team, yet here they are in tenth. Maybe if they could figure out when to start and bench Jameson Williams, the record could be better. But those lessons will have to be learned next season. Let’s try to avoid last place this season.
Waiver Wire Update
Does anyone have a sense on the league value of money? Apparently not, as I spent $29 (unopposed) for Blake Corum. Clearly, I too lack the financial awareness in this league.
On to week 14!
One final week remains in the regular season!
Cheers!
