Two weeks to go until the playoffs! Where has the first 12 weeks gone?
On to the recaps!
Squatches Separate From Piranhas, 145-136
Add Tee Higgins to the list of injuries this team has sustained. It hasn’t stopped this squad from winning their third-straight matchup though! Hurts (33), Henry (21), and Pickens (23) paved the way for this team to sit in third-place at 8-4. With matchups against the Misfits and Thunder, everything is in front of this team to earn the bye.
Wan’dale Robinson (24), Prescott (31), and the Green Bay defense (20) was not enough to get it done this week. There was hope that kicker McLaughlin could complete the comeback win Sunday night, but that was quickly extinguished after he mustered one point. Next week, they get back Nix and Achane from byes and Ja’Marr Chase from suspension, which should help.
GWW Knocks Off Misfits, 137-115
Outside of Emmanuel Wilson (28) and CMC (24), no one really exploded on the roster. It doesn’t really matter because taking down the top ranked team is good enough. Trading for Ladd McConkey for a late playoff push, GWW is preparing to make a run. Two important weeks are ahead.
It’s now been back-to-back unimpressive weeks for the Misfits after their big trade. Outside of Caleb Williams (28) and AJ Brown (19), no one scored more than 13, including six starters in single digits. The good news is they are still 9-3 and at the top of the standings. The bad news is, have you seen the QB room?
Avalanche Take Out Thunder, 131-95
Goff and Darnold (21 each), and JSN (30) helped the Avalanche stay in the playoff mix with the win. Still needing a lot of help these next two weeks to sneak in the playoffs, this was certainty the first step.
It was the worst week of the season for the Thunder. Scoring less than 100, six starters scored single digits. The Browns defense (23) and kicker Borregales (17) were the only highlights. Still, at 9-3, the Thunder can start preparing for the playoffs.
Icecaps Slide Past HSG, 143-138
Stafford and a trio of players with 19 (Rice, Adams, and Cook) helped the Icecaps avoid what would have been another disastrous loss. What I don’t understand is, why is Rico Dowdle only getting six carries? Do better! In fourth place at 7-5, a win this week would clinch the playoffs.
“Bruh the last 2 weeks haven’t even been bad for me. But resulted in 2 L’s. Sad stuff.”
It is sad Tim, especially when the win was easily possible. If Tim had started Zay Flowers (8) instead of Jameson Williams (0), OR Theo Johnson (9) instead of Dallas Goedert (2), it wouldn’t have been sad. It gets more sad, as HSG was officially eliminated from playoff contention.
Sandstorms Wins Thriller Against Dawgs, 122-119
It was a solid week for the Sandstorms considering the season, capping off the week with an incredible comeback on Monday night! Needing about six points, they got nine from McMillan to win by three points. With scores ranging from 5-21, it was a well balanced week… for the Sandstorms.
Cam Ward (27) and a generational game from Gibbs (47) wasn’t enough to offset the rest of the sad roster Nick put out. Six starters scored less than nine, including five players with less than five. Now sitting a full game out of the playoffs, there is no room for error these final two weeks.
Waiver Wire Update
There were some smaller bids, but the only notable offer was $25 for Devin Neal from Galen. Galen now has $4 left.
On to Week 13!
The trade deadline is this week, ending on Nov. 29!
Have a happy Thanksgiving!
Cheers!
