Progress is Progress, Breaking News, and Who Has it Worse?

Who has had the most challenging season? All teams have had their fair share of hardships, some more than others. But who’s had it the worst? I guess that’s for you to decide.

On to the recaps!

Thunder Get Best of Icecaps in Comeback Win, 164-146

The matchup of the week did not disappoint! Needing 15 points from McConkey and Dicker on Sunday night, the Thunder got 33 combined points to not only take down the Icecaps, but also to move to 8-2 on the season. Paired with London (20) and Kyren Williams (21), this team kept pace with the second highest scoring team in the league, and is now responsible for half of the Icecap losses this season.

Stafford (34), Adams (16) and Kittle (15) gave the Icecaps a lead in the 4pm window of games, but the aforementioned 15-point cushion wasn’t enough. Kicker Eddy Pineiro (1) tied his worst outing of the year (twice in the last three weeks) and clearly doesn’t understand the history of the kicking position in this Icecap franchise. The 146 would have beaten a lot of other teams this week, just not this one. Also with their share of injuries to Jackson, Purdy, and Kittle, the Icecaps have navigated well throughout the season.

Misfits Crack 200, take out HSG, 210-125

Jonathan Taylor is strongly making a case he should have been the 1.01 this season. Once Taylor scored 51 in Berlin early Sunday morning, this matchup was over. Four starters scored over 27, including Taylor, Caleb Williams, Mayfield and the Seattle defense. The 210 points scored while impressive, surprisingly doesn’t even crack the top three highest scores in league history. This team is clearly the favorite to win it all in December.

The disappointing thing is that Tim didn’t have a terrible week (still not great), he just ran into a 200-point outburst from the Misfits. Getting 22 points from Tyler Shough, and 21 points from both Breece Hall and Trey McBride, it was one of the more promising weeks this season heading into Monday. Then Jordan Love and AJ Brown combined for less than ten points. Perhaps some momentum can be carried into next week.

Prairie Dawgs Win Again, This Time Over GWW, 132-112

Jahmyr Gibbs (38) did his best Jonathan Taylor impression and was the main reason Nick is now a winner of two games in a row. Dart (26) and Charbonnet (15) played complimentary roles in the victory. Five players still scored less than seven points, but hey, this team is back to .500.

This was a very average lineup from GWW. Kicker Jason Myers (16) and Josh Jacobs (17) were the highlights while no other starter scored over 15. They benched Dillion Gabriel (25) for Tua (14) and Lawrence (12) but can we really fault him for that? That’s up to you. The positive takeaway is that this was the first week where Galen’s kicker scored in double digits since week 4. Progress is progress.

Piranhas Put up 153, Beat Avalanche 153-134

Are the Piranhas back? Achane (38), Henderson (28), and Mac Jones (29) helped in the dominant performance. Maybe Vrabel might get a Christmas Card from Jordan anyway! Jordan sure hopes that Henderson has arrived for the back half of the season. Four starters scored in single digits but certainly encouraging after last week where he scored the second lowest points… and still won.

It was a solid performance, it really was. Goff (30), JSN (16), and the Denver defense (17) pulled their weight. Unfortunately, as pointed out by Jordan, Darnold would score more points in a single play (7.72) (which was a 43 yd passing TD) than he would finish the game with, (6.92). Strange. But at least Alvin Kamara scored 14 points.

Squatches Squeak Past Sandstorms, 113-99

In the most unexciting game of the week, the Squatches won despite having the third lowest point total this week. Alas, this team has claimed to have battled the hardest with injuries. Let’s take a look,

Tyreek Hill – out for year
Cam Skattebo – out for year
Tucker Kraft – out for year
Omarion Hampton – out 10 weeks
Calvin Ridley- out half year

Perhaps he may have a point. It’s tough being the Squatches, but sometimes all you need to do is thank the yahoo schedulers, take the win and move on.

If you thought it’s tough being the Squatches, the Sandstorms would like a word. Now at 1-9, they’ve also had some tough injury luck. Jayden Daniels, CeeDee Lamb, Bucky Irving, Trey Benson, and Kyler Murray have all missed significant time this season. Averaging a meager 113 points per week, this team has to start playing for pride at this point.

Waiver Wire Update

Nothing crazy on waivers this week. Galen spent $10 on a defense (Atlanta) where the next highest bids were $5 and $4, so nothing like we’ve seen in previous weeks.

Other Notables

With Marvin Harrison now out for week 11, Galen has officially put Swift, Harvey and Jones on the trade block, hoping to get a receiver in return. If not, he may be forced to start Tre Tucker. Let’s hope a trade gets done.

Breaking News

Speaking of trades, one trade was just accepted at the completion of this article!

The Misfits are trading, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Bijan Robinson, Theo Johnson and Quentin Johnson to HSG.

In return, HSG is sending Justin Jefferson, AJ Brown, Breece Hall, and Trey McBride to the Misfits.

That is certainly an interesting trade as Ben claims that Bijan Robinson is “replaceable”. We’ll have to revisit this trade to see if this was the moment that Ben ruined his season.

In one final note, Jordan was kind enough to spend a lot of time on the math for the Sandstorms. Even at 1-9, Logan has not been eliminated from playoff contention and would need to win out to have a shot. In addition to this, multiple other outcomes would need to happen, including Galen and Nick losing the rest of their games. Let’s focus on winning this week first.

On to Week 11!

Cheers!
