Cooked by Rico Dowdle, High Scores, and How is this Still Happening?

The average score for week five was over 140 points. The hierarchy of teams is forming in the league between the top and the bottom, and each week increases the divide between the two. Which side are you on?

On to the recaps!

Icecaps Ride Waiver Wire Wonder, Take Down GWW 159-138

Rico. Dowdle. 32 points later and it was one of the main reasons the Icecaps won. Getting help from Stafford (31), Jones (27) and Montgomery (21), the Icecaps earned their fourth win in a close matchup. Once again, yahoo did a good job selecting the matchup of the week.

I think it’s safe to safe to say when Galen saw Dowdle in Jack’s lineup Sunday morning, he was probably feeling pretty good. Those feelings vanished around 3:30 pm EST after being cooked by Rico Dowdle for 32 points. Tua (28), and CMC (22) led the way for GWW. If he had started Samuel (17) instead of Worthy (5) and Mahomes doesn’t throw that pick-6, and instead throws a touchdown, Galen might have even won this matchup. Tough times.

Avalanche Survive HSG, win 164-137

A battle between two 1-3 teams, this win was crucial. Goff (26), Darnold (35), JSN (21) and start-of-the-week Rashid Shaheed (18) helped propel the Erk to victory. (Rico Dowdle has something to say about that start-of-the-week nickname). Gotta give credit to the Shaheed start there Erk. Well done! There’s another International game this weekend Erk!

It was a solid effort, it really was. Stroud (37), Hall (17) and the Commanders defense (15) were great starts. Here’s what I don’t understand though. Why bench Jaylen Waddle for AJ Brown? Waddle’s 19 points on the bench hurt with AJ Brown’s five points in the starting lineup. Oh yeah that’s right. Tim’s an Eagles fan. Tough weekend Tim.

Thunder Tame Squatches, 164-113

Kyren Williams (25), $8 pickup Rachaad White (21) and newly acquired Stefon Diggs (18) helped make this contest non-competitive. The win puts this team at 4-1.

Outside of the quarterback position, no player scored more than 13 points. Other than week 1, where has Derrick Henry been? Henry has scored more in week 1 (30.2) than he has in the last four weeks combined (30.1). More bad news, Omarion Hampton just went on IR. Is it time to be worried about the Squatches?

Misfits Continue to Roll, Take Down Dawgs, 149-111

The 149 points is a down week for this team, which is quite concerning for the league. Jonathan Taylor (30) and Javonte Williams (28) have given the Misfits the strongest RB room in the league. Remember, Bijan was on the bench with a bye this week. But of course, we have to check in with $44 Woody Marks. (Didn’t even crack three points this week). Money well spent. This team is no joke though and the early favorite to win the Title.

This team needs some playmakers. Would you believe me if I said seven starters scored slightly over projection? Outside of the Rams defense (-0.25) this team was just average. You’re going to need more than average to get your third win.

Piranhas Get Free Win Against Sandstorms, 163-113

Fields (31), Prescott (37), and Chase (24) were almost all Jordan needed to get a win this week. That tells you all you need to know about the opponent. With back-to-back wins, the Piranhas are making some noise. Jordan has got to be wondering though, what has Treveyon Henderson done wrong so far? A big matchup against the Misfits are on tap next week.

Logan’s season in one image

Thanks Emari Demercado. Where do I begin? Trading for Chase Brown a couple weeks ago was probably not the move, but they did get Jayden Daniels out of the package. Kicker Fairbairn (19) was the second highest scorer on this team, which never is a good stat. Also, why are we still dropping the ball before we score a touchdown? How does this still happen? It wouldn’t have helped but probably would have made Logan feel a little better. At this rate this team needs to avoid making history… the wrong kind of history.

Waiver Wire Update

Nothing crazy this week. Only that Ben now has zero dollars left after spending $3 on Joe Flacco.

On to Week 6!

Cheers!
