Big Spenders, Trading your Opponent a Winner, and Leftover FAB also Doesn’t win Championships

“Don’t need an article this week, we’re on to week 3.”

Nice try, Ezra. On to the recaps!

Misfits put on Show, best Avalanche 180-151

Wow what a matchup. St. Brown (32), Taylor (30), Robinson (19) and the Baltimore defense (20) paved the way for a dominant showing to put this team at the top of the standings. The highest score this season, are the Misfits the team to beat now? Perhaps maybe they are when six starters scored more than 19 points. Is this also the first time the Misfits have ever been in first place? We’d have to check the archives but we’ll let Ben have this one.

Brutal week as the 151 would have beaten a lot of other teams. Goff (43) and Nabers (30) helped skyrocket the scoring in this matchup but with four starters in single digits it wasn’t enough. This is encouraging from Erk but I think I speak for him when I ask, where is Brian Thomas?

Icecaps Ease Past Sandstorms, 161-107

Lamar Jackson (34), James Cook (27), and DaVante Adams (18) helped form the second highest scoring team in the league. At this point though they can’t really afford any more injuries with Purdy, Jones, and Kittle on the shelf for the next few weeks. Then again they did just put up 161.

Even though four players scored in single digits, no players scored over 17, which is why the low value of 107 showed up this week. The only inspired play was on the bench with Tua (22) and Kenneth Walker (20). It wouldn’t have made a difference though. Just think that if you start Walker, probably less than five points are coming your way but if you bench him, he’s scoring 17 plus. Choose wisely.

Piranhas use GWW Against him, Win 143-131

It’s very rare you see trades happen among opponents of that given week, but that’s exactly what happened here. GWW sent Fannin and Allen to the Piranhas and received Kelce and Jennings. Allen’s (13) helped seal the win for Jordan on Monday night with a touchdown. He also got help from Chase (27), Achane (19), and Nix (26) on Sunday. This time he started Fields (4) and benched Prescott (26). Don’t worry there is time to get it right once again next week!

Galen had the chance to make this matchup an instant classic by using Jordan’s own player against him. If he had started Jennings (15) instead of Harrison (3), Galen would have won by less than a point. But I’m not here to write that story because it didn’t happen. CMC (19) did his job and Javonte Williams (21), who looks like the steal of the draft I might add, had great performances. If he chooses to be mad at anyone, how about the Denver defense? -0.25 is not going to get it done… ever.

Thunder Scrape by HSG, 118-106

Not sure how yahoo selected this as matchup of the week, but it certainly did disappoint. Eight starters scored less than 14 with half the roster in single digits. Drake Maye (31) and Puka Nacua (21) led the charge to bring the Thunder to 2-0 on the year. They can be lucky they faced Tim this week.

Seven starters scored less than ten points in the tough week. Little did Tim know the 25 from Jordan Love on Thursday would be the only highlight. It gets worse. He started Breece Hall (4) and Ashton Jeanty (5) while benching Rhamondre Stevenson (18) and Travis Etienne (16). This is why this team is starting out 0-2.

Prairie Dawgs Win Miraculously over Squatches, 104-96

If you thought the previous matchup recap was bad, just wait a minute. The only thing that was miraculous was that Nick won despite only scoring 104 points. Six starters scored in single digits… but it gets worse. Not only is Joe Burrow injured, but now JJ McCarthy is also injured. The only healthy QB on this roster is Justin Herbert, whose 23 points helped clinch the win. Major roster adjustments are needed. Hopefully FAB can save him. Spoiler, it didn’t.

Well. Did Derrick Henry (2) prove us wrong yet? Four starters scored less than six points and six starters scored less than ten. Kicker Brandon Aubrey (24) put up a performance that would almost certainly guarantee a win for any squad… except this one. This week was doomed from the start after they benched Tucker Kraft (20) on Thursday to start Brock Bowers (nursing an injury) on Monday night. Oh wait, Ezra ended up starting Dalton Shultz anyway. Alrighty then.

Waiver Wire Update

It’s only week two but it was chaos on the waiver wire with bids and interesting decisions to say the least.

Notable Bids

Jake Browning – $23 (Jordan)

Russell Wilson – $12 (Ben)

Bhayshul Tuten – $11 (Jack)

Zach Ertz – $7 (Ben)

The $7 Zach Ertz bid is notable because no one else put a bid on him, come on Ben. The biggest surprise had to be Jake Browning at $23 when the only other offer was… $1. On that note, Jordan would rather have Browning for $23 than Wilson for $12. Logan disagrees.

The biggest letdown had to be Nick’s waiver bids. Putting in $11 for Russell Wilson was a dollar short while still only having one healthy quarterback on the roster. Don’t worry though, free agent pickup Carson Wentz will save the day!

Biggest Spenders

Ben – $28

Jordan – $24

On to Week 3

As we enter week three Ben has $57 left. He’s taking the approach of “leftover FAB money won’t win you a championship.”

Fair approach, considering he just picked up the “2nd best QB in the league for $12.”

Cheers!
