Same old Jets, Thrilling Monday nights and a terrible return on investments

Just when we all thought Garrett Wilson would be unlocked with Aaron Rodgers, the Jets pull this stunt. Trading for Davante Adams, it will be tough for Wilson to remain the target machine he was the past couple weeks on the Jets offense. But let’s be honest though, will Adams really help the dysfunctional Jets this season? No chance.

In other news, The Sandstorms have named their new facility for the team to practice this week. It has been called the Sandstorms Health Institute & Treatment to combat all the injuries they have sustained over the year. But please, do not abbreviate it, this is a family article.

The Misfits keep doing Misfit things. After being forced to start Joe Flacco last week, they were getting Jalen Hurts back to pair with Baker Mayfield, eliminating their (almost) quarterback catastrophe last week. So we’re good this week, right? Wrong! Enter another quarterback catastrophe as they opted to trade Jalen Hurts away for Matthew Stafford, who was on a bye! Left with only Mayfield again this week, they were saved by the fact Joe Flacco got the call again late on Sunday morning for the Colts. Yet after all of this, it worked, and they got a win.

Speaking of that trade, let’s take a look at the Misfits. They began with Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, Nico Collins and De’Andre Swift. After a couple of weeks, they turned that into Matthew Stafford, Saquon Barkley and Terry McLaurin. Honestly, a terrible return on those first two draft selection investments back in August. Maybe that’s why they are 2-4 and are in last place.

On to the recaps!

More thrillers, Misfits squeak by Squatches 123-119

Despite all the theatrics around the Misfits this week, they somehow generated a win. It all came down to Monday night, Ben’s 123 against the Buffalo defense. The Bills defense only managed seven points and the Misfits comeback train has left the station! Mayfield (34), Pollard (16) and Tracy Jr. (20) led the way to 123. Let’s not talk about the other starters as they were not that great (six in single digits). Thankful that the Jets looked like a real offense and Rodgers didn’t turn the ball over more than once, Ben was very excited after the conclusion of Monday night.

The same cannot be said for the Squatches. Sunday started off horribly as Etienne (-0.1) left with an injury in London setting the tone for the afternoon. Bijan Robinson (24) and Zay Flowers (16) were bright spots in an otherwise dull lineup. The receiving group (outside of Flowers) combined for 10 points (Pickens and Cooper). They even picked up Spencer Rattler so that Ben could not use him as a starter. It didn’t work. Will we see the Squatches make any moves this week?

Hurts so Good makes all the right moves, slides past Sandstorms 173-167

Maybe I’m wrong, but it feels like there are A LOT more close matchups this year than in years past. This one also came down to the wire on Monday night with Aaron Rodgers going up against Breece Hall and Tyler Bass. Hall and Bass prevailed despite a missed field goal and a missed extra point, but it was not enough for the Sandstorms to capitalize. Tim made some moves this week, acquiring Jalen Hurts, Amon Ra-St. Brown, and Joe Mixon who combined for 60 points! Talk about saving your season. Godwin’s 26, Hall’s 19 and the Steelers defense (20) helped pull off the upset by scoring 173 points.

Just one more Aaron Rodgers touchdown and Logan would have won. There was a brief moment on Monday night where Logan loved fantasy football, but that was quickly short lived as the night went on. 167 would have beaten all eight other teams this week, another jab at the yahoo schedulers. AJ Brown (19) returned nicely to the lineup as well as Swift (20) and spot start Tyler Allgeier (22). Credit to that start, that alone could have won him the week and probably should have. Unfortunately for them, HSG played better.

Icecaps continue to roll, beat Prairie Dawgs 165-137

The Icecaps have certainly cemented themselves as a power in the league with another 165-point showing this week. Goff (27), Fantasy MVP Derrick Henry (27) and Montgomery (21) led the way in another vicious attack, this time against the Prairie Dawgs. After stumbling the first two weeks, there are no more concerns for this team and ultimately looks like an early championship favorite. What is going to stop this team?

After getting 31 from Purdy and 38 from Caleb Williams, Nick looked primed for an upset. Unfortunately for Nick, there was more bad news as Marvin Harrison exited with a concussion on Sunday. It has been that kind of year for Nick as injuries have destroyed this team. Half the roster scored single digits on the otherwise unimpressive week. Somehow, they still sit at 3-3 in the standings. With all the injuries one has to wonder, can it be sustained?

GWW takes down Piranhas 146-110

146 points later and Galen is back in the win column. Jordan Love (34), Deebo Samuel (18) and George Kittle (18) were all part of a consistent attack. Eight players scored in double digits on the week rounding out the balanced lineup. Kyler Murray seems to alternate between really good and really bad, this time was the bad (13). Perhaps next week will be better for Galen’s “most excited about” player. Just imagine adding Jonathan Taylor back into the mix. Good things are ahead for the WinningWinners.

Things just continue to get worse for the Piranhas. Six starters scored single digits, including five of them with less than five points. Yikes. As anyone could have guessed, Mark Andrews decided to have a good week (13) instead of Tucker Kraft (2). Can’t fault you there Jordan. Josh Allen is trying the best he can to carry the squad (29) but there is no help. Hopefully getting Kyren Williams back next week will help but probably not. I would expect this team to make a trade within the coming weeks, (if not days).

Thunder survives again, this time over Avalanche 137-114

Can we get just one Monday night where I can relax and just watch the game? 90 minutes prior to kickoff James Cook was declared out, sending the Thunder to the waiver wire to quickly add someone. That someone turned out to be Allen Lazard, who actually had a solid night thanks to a Hail-Mary touchdown before halftime for the Jets. It will be short lived though, as the Jets will be getting a new offensive weapon, almost certainly destroying any fantasy relevance Lazard had. Outside of Lazard’s 18, it was a rather quiet week for this team, and it doesn’t get easier next week when they travel to the Icecaps.

No one is more upset about the Davante Adams trade news than Andrew Erk. While Lazard will fade away, Garrett Wilson will be the one hurt the most in this offense. Wilson’s 19 was the third highest starter on the roster outside of Harris (20) and Fields (24). Four players scoring less than five points, including Dak Prescott (3) will generally not get you a win and this time, it did not. Erk has to hope that Garrett Wilson can still be viable in this offense.

Conclusion

On to week 7! After next week, we will have reached the halfway point of the regular season!

Cheers!
