Another victory poem, there is parity in the BBL, and Galen spends more time rooting against the Icecaps than for his own squad

Only two weeks remain in the regular season in Books Boss League. Three teams have now clinched postseason berths (Icecaps, GWW, Piranhas) while three teams have been eliminated (Misfits, Squatches, HCTM). That didn’t stop those three eliminated teams from winning this last week though. Who says the BBL doesn’t have parity?

With four teams vying for three spots, the next two weeks should be entertaining! Out of the Sandstorms, Thunder, HSG and the Avalanche, only one team will not make the postseason. Who will it be?

On to the recaps!

WINNERS

PIRANHAS, 193.94

Talk about making a statement. Destroying the fake number one seed was easy this week as the Piranhas had eight players score over 13 points. Led by Hurts (42) and accompanied by Evans (20), Robinson (26), Stevenson (20), and Smith (19), the Piranhas put up over 190 points. Jordan has put himself in strong contention for not only the playoffs, but to make a strong run in those playoffs. Talk about peaking at the right time. After clinching a spot for the playoffs, the average Thunder await in week 13.

GWW, 166.04

Spending more time cheering against the Icecaps each week, GWW didn’t need to support his own team very much. The second highest scorer on the week, GWW got 46 from Josh Allen and 29 from CMC. With an additional 22 from the Dallas defense, the matchup against the Avalanche was over before it started. Clinching a spot for the postseason with the win as well, this team certainly has the capability to win it all. The only players they need week in and week out is Josh Allen, CMC and the Dallas defense. As long as they keep producing at an elite level, GWW will be in the mix.

SQUATCHES, 154.04

Scoring north of 150, it’s too bad that this team will miss the postseason. The 40 points from Dak Prescott on Thanksgiving set the tone for the week as the Squatches never trailed during the matchup against the Thunder. It is a good sign though, because the last thing this team needs is to follow up a championship with sizzling bacon. A winnable matchup with HSG is set for week 13.

HCTM, 133.88

In the same boat as the Squatches, HCTM put up a solid week as they knocked off a playoff contender in HSG. Jordan Love (33) and Jonathan Taylor (24) were the key starts for Blake who is also trying to avoid a bacon appearance next season. A winnable matchup against the Sandstorms lies ahead in week 13.

MISFITS, 124.20

WOW. Winning in a thrilling matchup that came down to the final minute in the Monday night game, a late pass to DJ Moore sealed the comeback victory for the Misfits. Earning their second straight win, the Misfits greeted the league with another victory poem!

Back to back the Misfits reign

Putting a strain on Logan’s campaign

Some points were left on the bench

But this team fought in the trench

With 55 seconds on the clock

DJ Moore left us all in shock

Who would have thought that we would be

Finishing this week in jubilee

Another quality poem from the Misfits. Shoutout to Moore, Mattison and Kmet for making it happen. As alluded to in the poem, there was a lot left on the bench including Hubbard (16), Ridley (18) and Michael Pittman (13). It didn’t matter though as the Misfits pulled off the upset once again. A chance to write another poem might be hard to come by next week when they face GWW.

LOSERS

ICECAPS, 143.80

Fake number one seed. Getting blasted by the Piranhas, it’s okay considering the Icecaps have all but locked up a first-round bye. Maybe he was resting his players this week to prepare for the playoffs. It didn’t seem that way because Kyren Williams scored a big 36 points in his first game back from IR. Either way, the Avalanche slide into the Icecaps line of vision in a week 13 clash of ice.

THUNDER, 132.68

Four starters scored in single digits, including waste of a roster spot Adam Thielen (0). You have to wonder why this manager continually starts Adam Thielen when there is no reason to. Certainly it can’t be because he’s a Panthers fan right? Spoiling a 27-point performance from the Miami defense, it doesn’t get easier next week when they face a Piranha team that just put up 190.

AVALANCHE, 125.92

Half the roster scored in single digits, which is unfortunate considering they got 31 from Stafford. The five-game winning streak came to an unfortunate end, but the playoff picture is still not out of reach with HSG taking yet another loss. A critical tilt with the Icecaps will be telling if the Avalanche make the postseason or not. Week 13 is a must win.

SANDSTORMS, 121.28

Devastating. It all came down to Monday night as the Sandstorms held a 26-point lead. Holding that lead throughout most of the night, a late DJ Moore catch put the Misfits over the top and sent the Sandstorms home with another loss. Then again, the Sandstorms cannot be too upset because they would have only beaten one other team this week. Currently on a three-game losing skid, the month of November has not been kind to Logan. Maybe next week the Sandstorms can get back on track with a win against HCTM.

HSG, 106.64

Another loss. Barely scoring over 100, HSG is in severe danger of missing the playoffs. Six starters scored in single digits as they are hanging on to the postseason by a thread. One game separates them from the Avalanche, with the Avalanche holding the tiebreaker in points. In their defense, Tim attempted to make a trade and had a verbal agreement with Galen, but Galen left Tim out to dry and rescinded the offer, minutes before kickoff. Talk about cold blooded. It has been tough sledding the past two months for this squad as the Squatches are next up on the schedule.

CONCLUSION

The trade deadline is this Saturday, December 2! Could we see some late season moves this week?

Cheers!
