The quarterback carousel, Y’all really let me get a win, and I’m tired of these waiver wire rbs dunking on me

“Y’all really let me get a win”. The Squatches finally picked up their first win of the year ending their seven-game losing streak. Perhaps this is the start of seven straight wins for the squad? Either way, it has to feel good to get one in the win column.

There will be a lot of backup quarterbacks that might find their way into starting lineups in the coming weeks with all the injuries sustained this past weekend. Trubisky, DeVito, Heinicke, Rypien, Hall, and even Bagent could all find their way into articles in future weeks. Time will tell.

On to the recaps!

Squatches earn first win against Misfits 147-131

The quarterbacks are the story in this one, with Prescott and Dobbs scoring 37 and 27 respectively, pushing the Squatches to their first win of the year. Getting a balanced attack from the roster including 17 from Kittle and 14 from Henry, it is exactly how the Squatches drew it up. Galen opted to question some start decisions from this team, wondering why Gardener Minshew wasn’t started. Late Sunday evening Galen wished to retract his earlier statement. Another winnable matchup awaits with HCTM in week 9.

We will have to wait for a victory poem for another week. The Misfits had a solid week including 18 from Javonte Williams and 17 from both Ja’Marr Chase and kicker Brandon McManus. It just wasn’t enough firepower for Ben as the Misfits fell to 1-7. They battle the Piranhas next week.

Icecaps keep rolling, take down HCTM, 168-141

It wasn’t just four players this time, it was the entire roster that came to play this week. This team always has the potential to boat race other teams, and it finally came to fruition this week. Scoring south of 170, eight players scored over 13 points including a combined 58 from Herbert and Tua. The Sandstorms are the next team to face this daunting roster.

Scoring their highest point total of the year will unfortunately result in another loss. Joe Burrow (35) and AJ Brown (27) were the highlights on the roster as Blake was able to score 141. It was a disappointing result from a solid week. They have a chance to get their third win against the Squatches this week.

GWW steamrolls Thunder, 168-112

Four players scored over 21 points in a rout of the Thunder including Allen (34), McCaffrey (26), Kamara (24) and the Dallas defense (21). It was exactly what you wanted out of this team after last week’s poor performance. Only two starters scored in single digits as well. Certainly playing for December, at 7-1 GWW has their sights set on the top record in the league against the Icecaps.

Well, it was another week when Mahomes scored 40 and Sam Howell only scored six points. Wait… hold on that’s not right. It was the answer Sam Howell who scored 39 points and Patrick Mahomes who had his worst game of his professional career only scoring six points. Certainly no one had that on their 2023 bingo card, especially the Thunder. Outside of the answer Sam Howell, seven starters scored in single digits on the down week. Falling to 5-3, the Thunder travel to the Avalanche next week.

Avalanche win second straight, beat Piranhas 188-147

Don’t look now, the Avalanche have won two straight matchups and this one was not even close. Easily scoring their highest point total of the year, this is the team Erk thought he drafted back in August. Eight starters scored over 11 points including 32 from CeeDee Lamb, 20 from Jaylen Waddle and 28 from Jahmyr Gibbs. If the Avalanche can keep this up a postseason berth is not out of the question. With a week like this, they can knock off anyone in the league, including the Thunder who they face next week.

The Piranhas are still searching for something as they will fall to .500 at 4-4, or are they? They scored 147, which was their second most of the season and would have walked away from a couple other matchups as a winner. Jalen Hurts put up 35 points and was part of seven starters in double digits for this team. Just maybe they can get on track next week against the Misfits.

Sandstorms hold off HSG, 125-99

“I’m tired of these waiver wire rbs dunking on me”. It was a rather modest week for both teams, with the Sandstorms earning the win. Etienne scored 26 but that was the only highlight on this roster. There were a couple options left on the bench that would have made the matchup a little more comfortable throughout Sunday, but a win is a win. At 6-3, a week nine battle against the Icecaps will be telling for this team.

There it is, HSG had their third straight loss after starting 5-0. Is it time to panic? The last three weeks HSG has been averaging 102 points and it is not looking promising. HSG shouldn’t have even had a chance, but waiver wire star Gus Edwards prompted Logan to reevaluate how he spends his Sunday afternoons. Unfortunately for Tim, Edwards and his 29 points was not enough to pull out a win. Tim has also scored 99 points two out of the last three weeks and has fallen into the middle of the pack in the league. Next week might be their fourth straight loss because GWW stands in the way.

Survivor Pool

Jack – 168.88

Galen – 168.44

Ezra – 147.68 (Eliminated)

We enter week nine with two squads left, and they just so happen to be at the top of the standings each with records of 7-1. Who will claim the survivor pool victory in 2023?

Cheers!
