Pride Comes Before the Fall, Blake Disappears and is it Even a Rivalry?

That had to be one of the most exciting weekends of football in recent memory. Saturday afternoon started with the largest comeback in NFL history with the Vikings beating the Colts after trailing 33-0, while the Jaguars and Bengals each came back from 17-point deficits to win. But maybe the most fascinating and questionable play of the weekend came when the Patriots opted to pitch and lateral in a tie game at the end of regulation. Unfortunately, Jakobi Meyers won’t be forgetting that day anytime soon.

In other news, we have reached the BBL semifinals! The Squatches and the Misfits punched their tickets this past weekend and will join the Piranhas and HSG as they battle for a championship. The Piranhas, HSG and the Misfits are looking for their first BBL Titles while the Squatches are looking for their second. We are set up for a thrilling semifinal!

BBL SEMIFINALs

PIRANHAS VS. MISFITS

Last week on this program, I said I didn’t see the Misfits advancing past the semifinal. I stand by that comment, as they are set to face the number one seeded Piranhas. The Misfits may be forced to start Baker Mayfield again which doesn’t bode well for the championship hopes for this squad. The Piranhas on the other hand are ready to go, resting their players last week as they look for their third championship appearance (first title).

HSG VS. SQUATCHES

Is it even a rivalry? The Squatches handled the Icecaps once again to cruise into the semifinal and have a date with HSG. Showing consistency at the right time, the Squatches are dangerous. What is even more concerning from HSG is that Jalen Hurts may be out with a strained shoulder. This is not good. Hurts has been the MVP of this team, let alone the entire NFL and without his 30-points in the lineup, it makes this matchup that much more difficult. Monitor the health of Hurts throughout the week, or this matchup may be already over. But for the record though, it wouldn’t be over if Tim didn’t trade Amon Ra St. Brown for an injured Cooper Kupp. “Did Galen fleece me?” Yes, yes he did Tim. Do your research before accepting trades. But the most important quote of the week, “pride comes before the fall”. That’s one point for the cryptic quotes crowd.

5th PLACE

HCTM VS. ICECAPS

Where’s Blake now? “Keep sleeping on Hot Chubb Time Machine”, yeah okay Blake. Blake didn’t believe us and scoffed at last week’s article profiling an accurate representation of his team. What he doesn’t know is that this article isn’t merely my opinion, but rather it’s an opportunity for a realization of realistic expectations. This week, he’s playing in the fifth place game against another team that disappointed once again, the Icecaps. But please Blake, don’t take it personally.

Finishing this season at 0-3 against the Squatches, the Icecaps have to be frustrated once again. The path was in front of them, as the semifinal berth was on their roster. If they would have started Geno Smith, Rhamondre Stevenson and Gerald Everett, they would have beaten the Squatches. That is the story of this team and will be the narrative for this franchise for years to come. Jack loves to say “fantasy is luck”. Well of course he would say that because after eight years in the league he has one ring and has sabotaged himself with poor roster start/sit decisions that plague him year after year resulting in that only ring back in 2020. I could easily be writing that Jack has four rings in eight years but Lit put it so well saying, “it’s no surprise to me, I am my own worst enemy”.

CONSOLATION

AVALANCHE VS. SANDSTORMS

And so it begins. With the sound of crackling bacon on the stovetop, these two as well as the other consolation matchup have a renewed sense of urgency to win this weekend. The Avalanche will be without first overall pick Jonathan Taylor as he just landed on IR so this game just got a little more exciting. The Sandstorms can salvage this abysmal season with a win in the next two weeks for positive momentum for 2023. As always, there will be “major restructuring in the offseason”. Let’s hope.

GWW VS. THUNDER

In the battle of the Messiah grads, anything goes. Splitting the season series 1-1, both teams are throwing out just anybody to compete this week. GWW has the upper hand on a projected 135 to the Thunder’s 113, but if we handed out trophies to projections, Jack and Jordan would have won every championship. That’s why we play the game! Galen has already worn the Bacon costume once, will it be twice? I don’t think so, especially with the way the Thunder is playing of late.

BBL Lite

In other news, The BBL Lite is in fact still going and there has been an update from league Commissioner Gorman. Ezra offered us some insights into the BBL Lite league playoffs and for those diehard BBL fans, that article can be found at the link below.
