And the fantasy season continues to confuse us all. The Sandstorms picked up their first win in emphatic fashion while the Squatches got three points from their quarterbacks, yet still won. HSG who looked to be a dominant team cooled down this week and found themselves in the loss column. That’s why we play the game! Also, credit to Ezra for coming up with the headline.
WINNERS
Squatches
Finding himself in yet another close matchup, the Squatches came out on top despite multiple warning signs early. Things didn’t start off well after Tua left with an injury on Thursday to kick off week 4 and it did not look like it was going to be get better. Before Sunday night, no player on this team had scored more than 14 points. Kelce’s 18 on Sunday night along with the 49ers defense putting up 25 on Monday night, was enough to beat the Avalanche. That wasn’t without questionable roster management though after sitting Josh Jacobs (34) and Jared Goff (36). Luckily, they are walking out with a win.
Good Starts: Kelce (18), 49ers defense (25)
Bad Starts: Stafford (1), Tua (2)
Benched: Goff (36), Jacobs (34)
Piranhas
Putting up 152 points, seven players scored over 15 points in a convincing win over HSG. Newly acquired Deebo Samuel made his presence with 18 points while newly acquired Kyle Pitts scored three points. Then again, I am not sure what you expect when Marcus Mariota only completed seven passes in the game.
Good Starts: Deebo Samuel (18), Jamaal Williams (24), Dallas defense (16)
Bad Starts: Gabe Davis (1), Kyle Pitts (3)
Sandstorms
The big winner this week, the Sandstorms picked up their first win of the season in dominant fashion scoring over 160 points. Russell Wilson finally had a great game, but the Broncos still lost the game. Austin Ekeler also finally was able to live up to his first-round draft capital with a 29-point performance. Newly acquired TJ Hockenson had a game for the ages and scored 34 points and the initial indications is that it was a good trade. Time will tell.
Good Starts: Wilson (30), Ekeler (29), Hockenson (34), Giants defense (19)
Bad Starts: Lawrence (9), Curtis Samuel (5), Robinson (3)
Misfits
Also able to regain form, the Misfits put up over 170 points. Four players scored over 24 points while two scored less than one point. Despite scoring over 150 points in three out of four weeks the Misfits sit at 2-2. If the scoring trends continue for the Misfits, they have a great chance for the playoffs.
Good Starts: Mahomes (29), Brady (31), Evans (24), Sanders (30), Hill (18)
Bad Starts: Pollard (0), Buccaneers defense (0)
Thunder
After two weeks of not cracking 84 points, the Thunder scored 125 points to get back on track this week. The Thunder got off to a good start across the pond when Justin Jefferson scored 23 points early Sunday morning and that good fortune continued throughout the day. Dameon Pierce rattled off a 75-yard TD run for his 20-point performance and kicker Brett Maher scored over 15. There is bad news though as the running back room continues to get thin. After losing De’Andre Swift indefinitely last week, they lost Javonte Williams to a torn ACL and LCL and he will be out the entire season. Who knows what lineup this team is putting out next week.
Good Starts: Jefferson (23), Pierce (20, Maher (15)
Bad Starts: Williams (3), Kittle (2), London (2)
LOSERS
Avalanche
Someone clearly didn’t read last week’s article because I mentioned to set your alarms on Sunday morning for the London game. Ignoring my advice, the Avalanche paid the price because Alvin Kamara was declared inactive before the game started and Erk did not make any adjustments. If Erk would have put JK Dobbins into the lineup instead, their would have been a different outcome. Only scoring 103 points, the only person they can blame is themselves.
Good Starts: Lamb (17), Brown (18)
Bad Starts: Mayfield (7), Taylor (3), Kamara (0), Waller (2)
Benched: Dobbins (20)
HSG
After looking unstoppable last week, their 118 wasn’t enough for a win. Normally getting 25 plus from Jalen Hurts, Hurts only scored 12 in wet conditions in Philadelphia. Derrick Henry and Saquon Barkley might be the best running back duo in the league, but the rest of the lineup could not pick up the slack.
Good Starts: Henry (22), Barkley (19), Eagles defense (18)
Bad Starts: Waddle (4), Pittman (3), Cooper (1)
HCTM
Barely avoiding the sub 100 club, their 102 points was less than stellar. Six starters scored in single digits neither QB exceeded 17 points. Team mascot Nick Chubb carried the team with 21 points while Breece Hall added 15. Everyone else was unimpressive.
Good Starts: Chubb (21), Hall (15)
Bad Starts: Devonta Smith (2), Andrews (2)
Icecaps
Scoring 111 points, it was a week to forget for the Icecaps. Outside of Justin Herbert, no player scored over 15 points. Even with Geno Smith’s 37 points on the bench, they still would not have won this week. They battle the Avalanche next week, but you will have to look closely because if you glance at the matchup you might get confused because they have similar logos… Definitely hasn’t happened before.
Bad Starts: Schultz (0), Rams defense (4)
GWW
Since they didn’t get 50 points from Lamar Jackson, this team struggled. GWW got off to a great start on Thursday with 19 points from Tee Higgins, but no other player would score more than 19 the rest of the weekend. Outside of Dionte Johnson’s two points, everyone else was just average. Average got him 110 points, but it wasn’t enough.
Good Start: Higgins (19)
Bad Starts: Wentz (8), Johnson (2)
