No one circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills. The Bills are on a mission to destroy every team in their path, currently outscoring opponents 72-17. Sending a message to the rest of the NFL isn’t enough, they are putting together a fully integrated marketing campaign on every single billboard in America, letting the people know that they are taking names.
The BBL made history in week 2, with the smallest margin of victory by the Squatches! Four hundredths of a point separated winning and losing, but the Squatches came out on top. Only the Icecaps remain undefeated after week 2, as they sit on top of the standings. The Sandstorms are the only team without a win, while all eight other teams are 1-1 in the BBL.
On to the recaps!
WINNER: Everglade Squatches 161.94
In the most thrilling matchup of the week, the Squatches found themselves in another tight matchup Monday night. They prevailed this time, winning by four hundredths of a point over the Misfits. This was the smallest margin of victory in BBL history! The previous smallest margin was six hundredths of a point back in 2015. Tagovailoa went over 50 points and was a main factor in the win. Good thing Miles Sanders didn’t get one additional yard.
Great Starts: Tagovailoa (51), Thomas (15), 49ers defense (16)
LOSER: Mistreated Misfits 161.90
One single yard. That is all Ben needed from Miles Sanders in order to move to 2-0 on the year. Instead, Boston Scott got the ball and ran for that one yard on 2nd and 8 late in the fourth quarter for the Eagles. It’s always tough when you score over 160 and lose but that’s fantasy. Especially in the BBL. Tyreek Hill and Cooper Kupp were not enough to pull ahead but they had plenty of options on the bench. If they would have started David Montgomery, Tony Pollard or even started Dawson Knox in the tight end position, we would be having a different conversation. For now, the Misfits are on the wrong side of BBL history.
Great Starts: Kupp (23), Hill (33), Buccaneers defense (28)
Bad Starts: Taysom Hill (1), Brady (11)
Benched: Montgomery (16), Pollard (17), Knox (5)
WINNER: GalensWinningWinners 161.85
A week after losing Prescott, GWW rebounded nicely thanks to quarterbacks Jackson and Wentz who combined for over 80 points in an absolute domination of the Sandstorms. If that production continues until Prescott returns, this team has a solid chance to make a playoff run. They also started the Bills defense after last week’s mishap. They were promptly rewarded.
Good Starts: Jackson (49), Wentz (33), Bills defense (23)
Bad Starts: Jeudy (2), Cook (5)
LOSER: Sahara Sandstorms 73.49
Welcome to the sub 100 club Sandstorms, where no player exceeded 16 points. Six players scored in single digits with five scoring less than six. Beginning the year 0-2, the Sandstorms are going to need to make some adjustments going forward. Considering their attitude after the conclusion of the live draft last month, this start could have been expected.
Bad Starts: Gordon (5), Pitts (2), Smith-Schuster (1), Joseph (1)
WINNER: Hurts so Good 178.38
HSG went off this week, thanks in part to two receivers scoring over 32 points (St. Brown, Waddle). The highest score on the week, only two players scored in single digits. After dropping their matchup last week, it was a great week to regain confidence going forward.
Good Starts: Hurts (34), Waddle (32), St. Brown (32)
LOSER: Alpine Avalanche 124.43
Four players scored in single digits including first round pick Jonathan Taylor with seven. Murray and Kirk had solid games, but HSG was just the better team this week. There is nothing this team could have done to change the outcome; they just ran into a buzzsaw. They fall to 1-1.
WINNER: Tundra Icecaps 134.90
The Icecaps move to 2-0 on the year but they are really hoping that Justin Herbert is ok after taking multiple shots to the ribs last Thursday. Four players scored in single digits but 2-0 is 2-0. Diggs was in elite form with three touchdowns on the way to 34 points. With a caveat of staying healthy, the Icecaps look like another strong contender.
Good Starts: Diggs (34), Sutton (15)
Bad Starts: Cousins (10), Schultz (0)
LOSER: Tropical Thunder 83.05
Another member of the sub 100 club, the Thunder quarterback woes continued as the quarterbacks combined for less than four points. (One of those quarterbacks broke their ankle and left the game with three points, but still). Even so, when both quarterbacks combine for less than four points, you can start preparing for next week. It seems like the Thunder learned nothing from last year when poor quarterback play ran the team into the ground. It would appear that they are headed that direction once again.
Great Starts: Williams (18), Swift (15)
Bad Starts: Lance (3), Ryan (0), Tonyan (1), Steelers defense (3)
WINNER: Amazon Piranhas 157.69
The Piranhas got back on track with a convincing win over HCTM. Josh Allen stole the show (of course) and Aaron Jones regained form with a 33-point performance. It was a good win considering last week. Let’s see what waiver wire moves are made this week.
Great Starts: Allen (37), Samuel (17), Jones (33)
Bad Starts: McKenzie (4), Hockenson (3)
LOSER: HCTM
Despite 30 points from team mascot Nick Chubb, HCTM fell short to the Piranhas this week. Four starters scored in single digits but most disappointing was the Browns defense who scored two points facing the Jets. HCTM falls to 1-1.
Great Starts: Chubb (30), Andrews (19), Harris (16)
Bad Starts: Fields (8), Koo (4), Browns defense (2)
On to Week 3!
Cheers!
