INTEGRITY WINS! All I do is Winston won their first Books Boss League Title in an instant classic, defeating the defending BBL Champion Tundra Icecaps by the slimmest of margins (1.19 points). The 1.19 points is the smallest margin of victory in the championship game in league history. This is All I do is Winston’s first BBL Championship in his eight years of playing.
On to the recaps!
Winston 121.08 – 119.89 Icecaps
WINSTON- Winston needed every point this week, claiming the BBL Title over the Icecaps this week. Considering the fire power that this team has had all year (avg. 150 points per week) the 121 for the championship was rather unimpressive. Half the roster scored in single digits, including quarterback Taylor Heinicke. While Josh Allen missed projection, his 22 points were still a significant part of the roster. The big start of the week was the Chicago Bears defense who dominated the Giants on the day and earned 24 fantasy points. Brandin Cooks was also a solid start who outperformed projection. They did bench Darnell Mooney in favor of Gabe Davis which didn’t pan out, but at the end of the day, the 121 points were enough to win the 2021 BBL Championship. Raise the Banner!
Good Starts: Josh Allen (22), Deebo Samuel (14), Brandin Cooks (13), Chicago defense (24)
Bad Starts: Taylor Heinicke (9), Gabe Davis (4), Matt Gay (2)
Benched: Darnell Mooney (13)
ICECAPS- Where do I begin? First let’s start on Sunday with the most questionable start/sit decision. For the majority of the year, the Icecaps have been rolling out quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and Russell Wilson. There was a brief point in the season when Wilson was injured but otherwise it was Stafford and Wilson. It was once again going to be that way for championship weekend, until Icecap manager Jack had a change of heart. He opted to start Taysom Hill (against Carolina) over Russell Wilson (against Detroit). That proved to be a terrible move and ultimately decided the outcome of the matchup. Wilson proceeded to destroy the Lions with four touchdowns while Hill had one touchdown, making the decision instantly regrettable. Alright, so the Icecaps would have already sealed the win if he started Wilson over Hill, but it made for interesting television on Monday night in the Browns-Steelers matchup. The Icecaps had Browns running back Nick Chubb on Monday night and needed eight fantasy points. For context, Chubb was about to be rushing against one the worst rushing defenses in the league (Pittsburgh) for the Icecaps to win back-to-back titles. Early in the first quarter, Chubb ripped off a 32-yard run, paving the way for a solid game, or at least we thought. As the game went on, we saw less and less Nick Chubb, baffling even the members of the broadcast booth at ESPN who wondered why Nick Chubb was not getting the ball. That could have been put to bed late in the fourth quarter when the Browns had first and goal at the 1-yard line with Chubb in the backfield. A play action fake and a touchdown pass later (not to Chubb) ended the night for the Icecaps and Nick Chubb who ended with just 58 rushing yards (6.55 pts). Just a brutal weekend and Monday night for manager Jack Wagner, who missed an opportunity to win the league in consecutive years.
Good Starts: DaVante Adams (21), David Montgomery (19), Daniel Carlson (14)
Bad Starts: Tyreek Hill (4), Dawson Knox (0), De’Andre Swift (4)
Benched: Russell Wilson (35), Los Angeles Rams defense (17)
Squatches 177.12 – 132.56 HSG
SQUATCHES- The Squatches claimed third place on the year scoring 177 points to take down HSG. Led by Dak Prescott, Jonathan Taylor, Rashaad Penny, Brett Maher and the Pittsburgh defense, the Squatches had the strongest team on the week. Only three players scored in single digits, making this a great way to end the year.
Great Starts: Dak Prescott (29), Jonathan Taylor (19), Rashaad Penny (32), Pittsburgh defense (28)
Bad Starts: Cordarrelle Patterson (5), Jaylen Waddle (4)
HSG- The 132 points was a decent performance, but their opponent had other plans. AJ Dillon, Damien Harris, Justin Tucker and the Buffalo defense had great weeks, but the quarterback position hindered them this week. Jalen Hurts and Baker Mayfield combined for 30 points which did not help. A fourth-place finish for HSG is commendable though.
Great Starts: AJ Dillon (21), Damien Harris (17), Justin Tucker (15), Buffalo defense (17)
Philly Special 157.89 – 108.43 Tropical Thunder
PHILLY- Philly Special ended with a bang this week scoring 157 points to win seventh place on the year. They can thank Ja’Marr Chase, DK Metcalf and the Green Bay defense for their outbursts this week because they were exceptional. Half the roster even scored single digits and they still scored over 150 points. A great week to end the year for Philly.
Great Starts: Ja’Marr Chase (45), DK Metcalf (25), Green Bay defense (20)
Bad Starts: Sam Darnold (2), AJ Brown (4)
THUNDER- An appropriate way for the Thunder season to end, as they failed to score 115 points again and claimed eighth place on the year. Drafted in the 11th round in late August in the BBL draft, Trey Lance sat on the bench all year waiting to be put into the Thunder lineup. It finally came this week in the consolation bracket as Lance scored a respectable 23 points. That actually ranks as the tenth best quarterback score for the Thunder this season. Considering that this season has seen 32 quarterback starts over 16 weeks, the fact that Lance’s 23 points is the tenth highest this season for the Thunder speaks for itself. Waiver wire pickup Amon-Ra St. Brown proved to be the MVP for the Thunder scoring 28 points which was the highest value a position player has scored for the Thunder all year. But that didn’t save the six starters scoring in single digits on the week. Considering the year they had, they will take eighth place and run as far away from this season as possible.
Great Starts: Trey Lance (23), Amon-Ra St. Brown (28)
Bad Starts: Ben Roethlisberger (8), Ezekiel Elliot (3), Tony Pollard (6), Tyler Bass (3), Kansas City defense (5)
Heroes 135.10 – 111.02 Piranhas
HEROES- The Heroes avoided last place by winning this week against the Piranhas. Mac Jones, Darrell Williams and Chris Boswell were great starts on the week. Six starters still scored less than 11 points, but the win gives the Heroes the ninth place finish.
Great Starts: Mac Jones (28), Darrell Williams (23), Chris Boswell (17)
Bad Starts: Davis Mills (10), Latavius Murray (3)
PIRANHAS- Not the way you wanted to end the year for the Piranhas. Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and Eli Mitchell had solid outings this week but could not help out the rest of the uninspiring starts. Six starters scored less than seven points on the worst week to do so. It’s a last place finish for the Piranhas. The 2022 fantasy season cannot come fast enough.
Great Starts: Tom Brady (32), Aaron Rodgers (24), Eli Mitchell (20)
Bad Starts: Ceedee Lamb (5), Antonio Brown (2), Dalvin Cook (1), Foster Moreau (1), Miami defense (4)

Around the League
At the beginning of this program, I mentioned about how integrity won this week. That would have to do with the nature of the trades that occurred during this season. But with the win from All I do is Winston, league integrity was upheld.
Of course, congratulations to All I do is Winston, who won their first BBL Title this year! Their championship banner can be seen below, as well as in the champions tab of the website where all championship banners are displayed.

The BBL would like to thank you for following along during the season and we hope you continue to follow us in the years to come!
For one final time for the 2021 fantasy season,
Cheers!
