Week 13 recap

All I want to know is what James Robinson did to Urban Meyer because Meyer will find any way to not give the football to James Robinson. After an early Robinson fumble from getting picked up and thrown down by Aaron Donald (who wouldn’t fumble), J-Rob did not see the field for the next 20 plays as Carlos Hyde took all the snaps. Hyde would later fumble in the same game but received snaps and a touch on the following drive. Jaguars coaching aside, three teams clinched their playoff berths in the BBL this week including the Sandstorms, the Squatches and Winston. Two more spots remain up for grabs between GWW, HSG and Philly Special. We have approached the final week in the regular season!

On to the recaps!

Sahara Sandstorms 171.17 – 151.99 Tundra Icecaps

Sandstorms- The highest scoring affair this week, the Sandstorms came out on top to move to 8-5 on the year. They responded quite well after last week’s terrible performance with a 171-point outburst. Everyone on the roster came to play against the current number one seeded Icecaps. Kyler Murray added a much-needed boost for this team, returning from injury this week. Dionte Johnson, Cooper Kupp and the Dallas defense, all put their mark in this matchup. It was exactly the response you wanted from a playoff caliber team after what happened last week. They have clinched a playoff spot with the win.

Great Starts: Kyler Murray (35), Dionte Johnson (23), Cooper Kupp (20), Dallas defense (24)

Bad Starts: Mike Gesicki (5)

Icecaps- They scored over 150 points, but it still wasn’t enough to win this week. All but three players scored in double digits on the weekend. Matthew Stafford came back to form against the Jaguars for a solid day and got the Rams on track. In addition, the running back starters were great, with Alexander Mattison and Javonte Williams combining for over 45 points. However, the Icecaps can be partially upset for benching David Montgomery as he would have made the matchup closer if he played Montgomery in the flex spot. The Icecaps are still in the playoffs regardless of what happens, so they are just playing for the number one seed at this point.

Great Starts: Matthew Stafford (30), Alexander Mattison (20), Javonte Williams (26)

Bad Starts: Tyreek Hill (2)

Benched: David Montgomery (22)

GalensWinningWinners 166.33 – 125.91 Tropical Thunder

GWW- GWW put up over 165 points to down the Thunder and move to 7-6 on the season. Every single starter scored in double digits in the balanced attack. They can mainly thank George Kittle for his 31-point performance though as he destroyed the Seahawks secondary on Sunday. Rams kicker Matt Gay also provided a solid kicking day of 16 fantasy points. All GWW needs to do now is win next week and they are in the playoffs. For them to miss playoffs they would have to lose and score 70 less points than Philly Special. (Philly must win as well).

Good Starts: Tyler Lockett (13), Leonard Fournette (16), George Kittle (31), Matt Gay (16)

Bad Starts: Derek Carr (12)

Thunder- It is finally time. The Thunder have officially been eliminated from playoff contention and it’s a surprise they made it this far to still be considered alive. Averaging a meager 117 points per week (ninth in the league) the fact they got five wins is astounding. Constantly underperforming, they did again this week with Ezekiel Elliot and James Robinson combining for seven points which sunk any chances of winning. However, the Thunder actually made some other quality starts this week in Keenan Allen, Rob Gronkowski and the Kansas City defense. They made a trade for Gronkowski over the weekend, and he immediately paid dividends, but it just wasn’t enough. The Thunder can officially prepare for the consolation bracket.

Good Starts: Keenan Allen (18), Rob Gronkowski (18), Kansas City defense (26)

Bad Starts: James Robinson (2), Ezekiel Elliot (5)

All I do is Winston 129.29 – 113.92 Amazon Piranhas

Winston- Winston improved their record to 8-5 by taking down the Piranhas this weekend. Half the roster scored single digits while the other half scored over 14 points. James Conner, Jake Elliot and the Indianapolis defense all had great outputs to put Winston officially into the playoff picture, as they clinched a spot. As long as they win next week, they should lock up a bye considering they lead the league in points scored.

Good Starts: James Conner (18), Jake Elliot (18), Indianapolis defense (25)

Bad Starts: Darnell Mooney (3), Brandin Cooks (6)

Piranhas- The Piranhas only scored 113 points in their ninth loss of the season. Despite Tom Brady scoring 32 points, the rest of the team could not amount anything substantial, especially their other quarterback start Tyrod Taylor. Waiver wire pickup Boston Scott proved to also be a bad start as he scored zero points. They will try to get their fifth win of the season next week in the final game of the regular season.

Good Starts: Tom Brady (32), Eli Mitchell (15)

Bad Starts: Tyrod Taylor (1), Brandon Aiyuk (6), Boston Scott (0)

Hurts so Good 127.79 – 93.31 Philly Special

HSG- If you would have told me that HSG had to start Andy Dalton and Gardener Minshew, I probably would have said that they would have lost this week. That was not the case as they were able to beat Philly Special to keep their playoff hopes alive. Justin Jefferson had an excellent fantasy day and Gardener Minshew filled in rather nicely for Jalen Hurts. They still had glaring holes in the rest of the roster, with four players combining for 20 points. It doesn’t matter though; they move to 7-6 and are currently in a playoff spot They must win if they want to keep that playoff spot.

Great Start: Justin Jefferson (26)

Bad Starts: Nyheim Hines (6). Travis Kelce (2), Amari Cooper (4)

Special- Not a good week for a potential playoff team as Philly did not score over 100 points. Six starters scored in single digits including zero from Adam Thielen, but he also got injured during the game so not his fault. The Pittsburgh defense was a good start in an otherwise forgettable week. Currently sitting outside the playoff picture, they must not only win, but also need help from around the league. Philly would need a GWW loss while also scoring 70 more points than GWW. Or HSG must lose while Philly scores 35 more points than HSG. Either way, next week is a must win.

Good Starts: Pittsburgh defense (17)

Bad Starts: Myles Gaskin (4), Dalton Schultz (4), Adam Thielen (0)

Everglade Squatches 118.25 – 59.51 Hipple’s Heroes

Squatches-The Squatches only scored 118 points, but it was enough to take down Hipple’s Heroes. They can thank Justin Herbert and Jonathan Taylor this week or else this matchup would have been a lot closer. The rest of the roster underperformed but luckily, they did not need the rest of the roster to do anything substantial to win. They have clinched a playoff spot with the win this week.

Great Starts: Justin Herbert (31), Jonathan Taylor (26)

Bad Starts: Terry McLaurin (2), Kyle Pitts (5), Devonta Smith (1), Baltimore defense (5)

Heroes- They didn’t clear 60 points. Their all Patriots lineup failed this week. They are 3-10.

Bad Starts: Mac Jones (0), Trevor Lawrence (7), Kendrick Bourne (0), Jakobi Meyers (0), Mark Ingram (2), Hunter Henry (0)
