Intro

Happy Thanksgiving! Welcome to week 12 of the fantasy season, as two weeks remain until the first round of the playoffs begin. The Tundra Icecaps won yet again to move to 9-2, while the Piranhas won to break their six-game losing streak to stay alive in the playoff hunt.

On to the matchups!

Tundra Icecaps vs. Amazon Piranhas

The Icecaps won again, bringing their record to 9-2 on the year, after they handled GWW by scoring over 169 points. They set a balanced attack as they only had two starters score in single digits. Murray and Herbert led the way at quarterback with 26 and 36 points respectively, along with 21 points from the Steelers defense was just too much to overcome for GWW. This is the Icecaps sixth straight win and have done just about everything to clinch a bye. The Icecaps have turned in an impressive season thus far but look to claim that elusive title. They certainly have the pieces, now it’s just a matter or assembling them correctly to raise a banner in late December.

The Piranhas stay alive… for now. Finally breaking that six-game losing streak, they exploded for over 154 points to take down Wentz upon a Time. They as well as the Icecaps, only had two starters score in single digits while the rest of the team turned in solid performances. The Piranhas were led by Cam Newton (24), Keenan Allen (22), and Tyreek Hill (19) just to name a few strong contributors. They face a tall order this week, when they face the Icecaps. At 4-7, if the Piranhas want to keep any playoff hopes alive, they must win this game. If they don’t, they can say hello to the consolation bracket.

Philly Special vs. Wentz upon a Time

Philly Special’s 174-point performance was certainly a surprise to the league, after going 1-4 the last five weeks prior to this outburst. Kirk Cousins (31), Adam Thielen (26) and Ezekiel Elliot (20) paved the way for Philly to move to 7-4 on the year. The win jumped Philly into third place in the standings, but most importantly got the seventh win. The magic number to get into the playoffs right now is at eight wins. Seven wins could get you in the playoffs at the end of the year, but it is in Philly’s best interest to win this game.

On the flip side, it continues to get worse for Wentz upon a Time, who suffered another loss last week to drop to 6-4. Half of their starters scored single digits, while their highest scorer (non-QB) was 15 from Justin Jefferson. Wentz has been exposed recently, losing three straight and is potentially in danger of missing playoffs. Another loss wouldn’t be the end yet, but it definitely won’t help. Earlier in the year Wentz was carried by Russell Wilson and Lamar Jackson and will need to look to them again if they plan on winning this week.

Tropical Thunder vs. GalensWinningWinners

It was a week to forget for the Thunder, who scored a season low 96 points to move to 6-5 on the year. The Thunder’s highest scorer was the Chargers defense who scored 16 points for the squad. Six of their ten starters scored in single digits, with three players scoring under 5 points. The Thunder elected to start Drew Lock last week over Ryan Tannehill, which was a bad decision to say the least. To make matters worse, the Thunder also lost Joe Burrow to a season ending injury. At 6-5 and a middling points scored, the Thunder are in danger of missing a playoff spot if they cannot get a win in the next two weeks.

The Icecaps proved to be too much for GWW, as they lost to move to 7-4. Led by Deshaun Watson (38) and Derrick Henry (21), they scored over 135 points. After starting the kicker of the week two week ago in Tyler Bass, GWW turned to Matt Prater who scored a big zero for this team. As of the writing of this article, they are currently slated to start Jason Myers at the kicker position. GWW just wants to make the playoffs, as the team they have assembled are set to go for a deep playoff run. The problem is getting everyone healthy, which won’t happen this week as Christian McCaffrey is not planning on coming back this week. Currently sitting in second place, a win would clinch a playoff spot, with the potential for a first-round bye.

Everglade Squatches vs. Fresh Prince of Helaire

The Squatches won last week, moving to 5-6 on the year and seventh place in the standings. Scoring over 124 points, the Squatches had five starters score single digits, with three players scoring less than 4 points. Waiver wire pickup of the week Taysom Hill scored 27 points, while Patrick Mahomes contributed for another 28 points. At 5-6, they couldn’t have asked for an easier remaining schedule in Fresh Prince and the Prairie Dawgz, but they still need to win if they want to make the playoffs. A loss would not eliminate them, but they would need a lot of help from other teams.

Fresh Prince won last week against the Dawgz by scoring over 146 points. They were led by Aaron Rodgers (29), Clyde Edwards-Helaire (21) and Davante Adams (18) to help get them their third win on the year. They set a solid lineup, only having two players score in single digits. Fresh Prince is 3-8 on the year.

Sahara Sandstorms vs. Prairie Dawgz

The Sandstorms turned in a loss last week when they only scored 107.08 points. Six of the ten starters scored in single digits, including Matt Ryan (6) and Hayden Hurst (0). Derek Carr and Dalvin Cook were strong starts for the Sandstorms, scoring 29 and 24 points respectively. At 6-5, their playoff spot is up for grabs from a team like the Squatches. They have a get right game this week, when they face the league worst Prairie Dawgz. The Sandstorms need this win this week.

The Dawgz lost again moving to 2-9 on the year. They made a great waiver wire pickup in the Panthers defense, who scored over 18 points for the Dawgz. They had three players score under 4 points, which all contributed to the low 104 scoring output. The season can’t end fast enough for this team.

Closing Thoughts

Plenty of meaningful games late in November, will anyone clinch playoffs this week?
