Week 7 Preview

Six weeks down, seven to go in the fantasy regular season for the BBL. Philly Special is undefeated no more, while on the other end of the spectrum, Fresh Prince of Helaire dropped to 0-6. Teams will look to make adjustments in the upcoming weeks in order to propel their team to the playoffs.

On to the matchups!

GalensWinningWinners vs. Wentz upon a Time [Game of the Week]

And just like that, 0-2 has quickly become 4-2 for the WinningWinners, rattling off two consecutive weeks of 190 plus point performances. Deshaun Watson and Derrick Henry led the way with 42.45 and 41.40 points respectively on route to a 192.32 final tally. What’s even more concerning is that this team has Christian McCaffrey on the bench ready to jump into this starting lineup when healthy. The WinningWinners have put themselves in a great spot moving forward and look to build on this when they face Wentz upon a Time.

Scoring 173.53 without Russell Wilson and DK Metcalf, this team is clearly built to win without them. Waiver wire addition Brandon McManus was the kicker of the week, scoring 24.20 points to help Wentz dominate the Squatches. They even were able to score over 170 despite starting Mike Gesicki (0.00). Undrafted pickup Justin Jefferson put up 32.60 points for this squad who is showing that this team is evenly balanced. The challenge this week? Not having a quarterback to start, as Lamar Jackson and Ryan Fitzpatrick are on bye, which has forced Wentz to pick up and start backup Jalen Hurts. Yes, Jalen Hurts. Things don’t look good for Wentz this week.

Sahara Sandstorms vs. Everglade Squatches

The Sandstorms pulled off the upset last week against the Piranhas, scoring 134.06 points. Having faith to roll out Jimmy Garoppolo again, it payed off as he scored 31.97 along with Matt Ryan’s 41.59 points. That’s all well and good, but if we take a deeper dive at this team, we see that his two quarterbacks combined for over 54% of the overall score. The Sandstorms other eight players combined for a meager 60.50 points. While they did rebound from last week’s embarrassment, they still have plenty of work to do to pave out a playoff spot.

Scoring 139.43 points, it wasn’t enough to take down Wentz upon a Time. The Squatches made a great waiver wire addition this past week by adding the New York Giants defensive unit, who scored 16.50 points. Forced to start Daniel Jones, Jones scored a serviceable 17.93 points for the Squatches, but will be eager to move him back to the bench. At 2-4, it isn’t time to panic, but certainly a win now goes a long way. They will get Justin Herbert back this week and will look to take out the Sandstorms.

Tropical Thunder vs. Tundra Icecaps

Tropical Thunder is riding a two-game winning streak into this game as they took down Philly Special last week. Scoring 170.79 points, the Thunder were led by Ryan Tannehill (38.96), Julio Jones (27.70), and newly acquired Kenyan Drake (30.40). Picking up the Tennessee Titans defense last week was not the move, as the Titans defense only got one point. A positive to look forward to this week is getting Josh Jacobs from a bye week, who will certainly add star power to the starting roster. After evening their record to 3-3, the Thunder face divisional rival Tundra Icecaps this week.

The Tundra Icecaps had to wait until Monday night last week, as Kyler Murray was able to help the Icecaps slide by the Fresh Prince. Winning 131.49-123.37, the outcome could have much different. (I will touch on this later.) Actually, aside from Murray’s 36.17 points, it was a relatively unimpressive week from the Icecaps, with half the team scoring in the single digits. They get a much needed boost this week when Alvin Kamara gets back from bye. The Icecaps got the better of the Thunder in their first matchup, but that was back in week 2, and things have changed since then. 5-2 looks a lot better than 4-3, as the Icecaps will look to earn the win this week.

Prairie Dawgz vs. Amazon Piranhas

Another week and another loss for the Dawgz. Scoring 147.98 points on the back on Ronald Jones II (26.60), it was not enough as they were run out of the building by Galen. They turned to Kyle Allen as one of their quarterbacks last week, who surprisingly scored more than their other starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (22.60 to 14.08). Sitting at 1-5, playoffs are not completely off the table, but it doesn’t look good.

The Piranhas lost a tough one last week against the Sandstorms, only scoring 118.77 points. Their highest scorer was the Steelers defense, who scored 30.50 points, to an otherwise mediocre performance. Waiver wire addition Travis Fulgham appears to be a solid pickup for this team. Sitting on the bench was a 32.99-point performance from Philip Rivers, and that has to eat at you if you’re the manager of this franchise. They do get Chris Carson back this week, who will provide a great boost to this team. A win will improve their record to 4-3, otherwise it’s 3-4.

Philly Special vs. Fresh Prince of Helaire

Undefeated no more, Philly Special could not handle the heat of the Tropics last week as they were dealt their first loss of the season at the hands of the Thunder. Philly didn’t really give themselves a chance to win though, only scoring 117.56 points out of a projected 152.55 points. Half of the starters scored in the single digits, while their workhorse running backs scored a combined 16.10 points (Aaron Jones & Ezekiel Elliot). I think it would be safe to say this was just an off week. They play the worst squad in the league this week.

I don’t even know where to begin with this team. At 0-6, this team should just start doing research for the 2021 draft. Recall to earlier in the article when I mentioned the outcome of the Icecaps-Fresh Prince game could have been easily flipped. This was clearly the case, as the Fresh Prince left a Carson Wentz 35.12-point performance on the bench that would have them sitting at 1-5. The Fresh Prince desperately needs a win to avoid being on the wrong side of Books Boss League History.

  1. We’re only concerned with week 7 and beating the Sandstorms. It’s time to take things game by game. Our only goal right now is to get to 3-4
