Week 6 Preview

We have made it through five weeks of the season! We can only hope that this continues in the coming weeks. Philly Special continued their early season dominance moving to 5-0 while the Fresh Prince of Helaire fell to 0-5 after last week.

On to the matchups!

Wentz upon a Time vs. Everglade Squatches

Wentz upon a Time came home with a win last week after scoring 167.53 points over the Piranhas. Carried by Russell Wilson (33.33), DK Metcalf (23.30), Miles Sanders (22.90) and the Ravens defense (31.00), Wentz was able to offset the eight points from Zach Ertz, Justin Jefferson and Devin Singletary. However, they will be without Russell Wilson and DK Metcalf this week due to their bye weeks. Sitting in second place overall in the league at 4-1, if Wentz can win this week without those key starters, this team is scary.

Always a good time beating the Tundra Icecaps, as the Everglade Squatches exploded last week for 197.81 points, in an upset win over the Icecaps. The Squatches made just about every start/sit decision correct to earn all 197 of those points. Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert combined for over 70 points, with an additional 44 points coming from Darrell Henderson Jr. and newly acquired Mike Davis. The Squatches are sixth overall in the league and look to take advantage of Wentz upon a Time while their key players are on bye.

Tundra Icecaps vs. Fresh Prince of Helaire

A nightmare for the Icecaps, losing to the Everglade Squatches. Always seeming to be a heated matchup, it turned out to be just that. On that note I decided to do a little digging in the archives of the history of this matchup. I present to you, the

Fascinating Factoid of the Week

Dating back to 2016 when Ezra joined the BBL, Jack and Ezra have faced off seven total times (including the postseason and last week). Who has the edge? With that win last week, the Squatches hold the overall advantage at 4-3.

Back to the matchup at hand. Anyway, the Icecaps dropped their second straight game last week to fall to 3-2 on the year, but still good for third overall in the league. While the Icecaps really could not have done anything to touch the 197.81 points put up by the Squatches, starting two players with less than zero points is not good. This came courtesy of Dionte Johnson (-0.20) and Kansas City Defense (-0.50). I would not worry too much about this week though, as the Fresh Prince can’t buy a win right now.

It is a lost season for the Fresh Prince of Helaire as they fell to 0-5 and dead last in the league. Scoring 118.81 points, they should look into making a trade this weekend to change the culture of this team. Adding insult to injury, with the Chiefs signing of Le’veon Bell, Edwards-Helaire’s value has taken a hit. They need DeVante Adams to be back and healthy as soon as possible as their wide receiving core last week got them 3.90 points (Amari Cooper and Tre’Quan Smith). Will the Fresh Prince get a win this season?

Sahara Sandstorms vs. Amazon Piranhas

Pathetic. There is really no other way to put this, but the Sandstorms put together one of the worst performances of any team this season. Scoring a meager 78.52 points, when the league average is up 20 points from last year is just embarrassing. Starting Jimmy Garoppolo (-0.47) and Hayden Hurst (0.80) are just a glimpse of the pathetic lineup put out last week by this team. Falling to 2-3 and eighth overall in the league, the Sandstorms need to put last week behind them immediately.

The Piranhas fell to Wentz upon a Time last week bringing them to 3-2 and fourth overall in the league. What doesn’t help is that they just lost Dak Prescott to a season ending foot injury. They filled that void by trading for Andy Dalton by sending out Kenyan Drake to the Thunder. A bright spot for this team is drafting Kareem Hunt who may be one of the best late round picks this year (10th round). They will look to beat the Sandstorms while they are already down from last week.

Tropical Thunder vs. Philly Special

The sun came out once again last week after the Thunder beat the reeling Fresh Prince of Helaire 145.47-118.81 bringing their record to 2-3 and good enough for seventh overall in the BBL. Trailing heading into Tuesday night, the Thunder rode out Ryan Tannehill and Josh Allen to take the win from Fresh Prince. I would not be satisfied yet though, since they started Dalton Schultz (0.60) and DJ Chark (2.10) in their starting lineup. With Josh Jacobs and Justin Jackson on bye, the Thunder were left with just one starting running back on the roster before acquiring Kenyan Drake from the Piranhas earlier this week. They plan to roll out Kenyan Drake and Myles Gaskin this week at the running back position. I hope he knows something we don’t.

Philly Special has put the league on notice if they haven’t already. Sitting at 5-0 with everyone below them in the standings, Philly has just about done everything right. Averaging 160 points a week, this team has yet to face a team capable of beating them. Not to mention the fact that they still scored 147.33 points without Aaron Jones in the lineup should alert fantasy managers of the danger of this lineup. The stack of Kirk Cousins and Adam Thielen has proved to a winning combination for this team as they go for a perfect 6-0 mark this week against the Thunder.

Prairie Dawgz vs. GalensWinningWinners

Well the Dawgz are trying. Scoring 112.24 points it was not enough to beat Philly Special last week. Sitting in ninth place with a 1-4 record, the Dawgz need to turn it around sooner rather than later. Biggest disappointment last week came when the 49ers defense, projected for over 16 points couldn’t even muster a single point (0.00). The lineup should get a boost this week with the return of Chris Godwin from injury, as they desperately need to get a win for a chance.

GalensWinningWinners continued their hot streak winning again to move to 3-2 and fifth overall in the league. I mean they didn’t have to do much last week facing the 78-point performance from the Sandstorms, but that didn’t stop the WinningWinners from scoring 196.01 points to win the matchup. The bad news? Christian McCaffrey appears to out until week eight for Galen, who will have to wait longer to put him in the lineup for the first time this season. That shouldn’t be a problem, considering they already have Derrick Henry and Todd Gurley II to handle the load. They are looking for their fourth straight win against the Dawgz.
