Welcome to week 4! Three teams have jumped out to a 3-0 record while two franchises have dropped to 0-3. As of this press release, the coronavirus has found its way into the NFL via the Tennessee Titans, and has resulted in a postponement of the Steelers-Titans game on Sunday. Will this affect fantasy managers this week? The probable answer is yes, as managers will look to maneuver this new threat to the season.
On to the matchups!
Tundra Icecaps vs. Philly Special [Game of the Week]
A match-up of 3-0 teams highlight the game of the week this week. The Icecaps look like the early favorite in the BBL, as they have the highest points scored in the league through three weeks. Scoring a season low 153.90 points, they destroyed the Prairie Dawgz last week. Can we call Alvin Kamara the early season fantasy MVP? The Icecaps sure think so, as Kamara has ravaged opponents leaving them no chance to win against the Icecaps. They will look to remain unbeaten this week after they battle Philly Special for the top spot in the Laces division, and the league.
Philly Special handled Tropical Thunder last week to move to 3-0 as well. Also looking like a strong contender, Philly Special will look to knock off the red-hot Icecaps this week. Just like the Patriots did to Darren Waller, Philly will need to lock down the Icecaps key players. They will turn once again to running backs Ezekiel Elliot and Aaron Jones to lead them to a perfect 4-0 record. Over three weeks, Philly has scored 456.44 points, good enough for fifth overall in the league. Who will come out of this week with the 4-0 mark?
Sahara Sandstorms vs. Everglade Squatches
Sometimes you just need to get that first win to reassure you that you are doing something right, and that’s exactly what the Sandstorms got last week. Putting up a week high 184.34 points, the Sandstorms beat Fresh Prince of Helaire to claim their first win of the year. Led by Dalvin Cook, Nick Chubb, and Tyler Lockett, Fresh Prince never stood a chance. Scoring 27.90, 24.50, and 29.50 respectively, these three players, along with other major contributors made week three one to remember. Sitting at 1-2, the Sandstorms have the third highest scoring team in the league, and will look to get back to .500 this week after they play the reeling Squatches.
The aforementioned Everglade Squatches could not handle the force of Wentz upon a Time last week, although they did make it exciting. With things looking bleak on Monday night, the Squatches got 51.20 points from Patrick (not Pat) Mahomes and 11.20 points from Travis Kelce. Unfortunately, the Squatches could not overcome a 1.50-point output from Dion Lewis, coupled with the 48.80 points put up by his opponent’s quarterback Russell Wilson. They will also look to get back to .500 as well but have a tall order in front of them. They desperately need Christian McCaffrey to get back off the IR.
GalensWinningWinners vs. Wentz upon a Time
Galen was able to hold off the Piranhas last week in a close 165.79-161.66 nail-biter. I’m not sure if they should be thanking the Colts defense for being great, or should be applauding the Jets for being awful, as they rode the Indianapolis defensive unit for 34 points. It also helped that first round pick Derrick Henry exploded for 29.50 points to help this team avoid an 0-3 start. This team faces a tough test this week, as they face the high powered Wentz upon a Time. They are also looking to get back to .500 with a win this week.
Another week, another impressive showing. Once again, carried by Russell Wilson with 48.80 points, Wentz upon a Time moved to 3-0 and second overall in the BBL standings. Outside of Wilson, Wentz seems to be getting consistency from the rest of his roster. Just this past week, no starter scored less than 9 points on route to 168.58 points. Not bad considering they have Michael Thomas just sitting on the bench. This team is looking scary to face before our eyes. They will look to move to 4-0.
Amazon Piranhas vs. Tropical Thunder
The Piranhas suffered a tough loss at the hands of GalensWinningWinners last week to move to 2-1 overall. What really hurt them last week was the benching of Keenan Allen (20.70 pts) for Marquise Brown (2.30 pts), or else they would be looking at a 3-0 squad. How about James Robinson, slowly creeping up into running back one material, who saw that coming? They might have to be without Chris Carson this week, as a knee injury could keep the star runner out of the lineup for the Piranhas. They will look to get back on track this week down in the Tropics.
Ah the Tropics, normally a place that’s warm and relaxing, but not so far. The Thunder have gone cold dropping the last two weeks for a record of 1-2. Despite a 41.24-point performance from Josh Allen, the Thunder could not pull out the win against Philly Special. They are relying on waiver wire running backs to be serviceable in order to get back in the win column this week. The Thunder are yet another team looking to get back to .500 with a win.
Prairie Dawgz vs. Fresh Prince of Helaire
Well, a game of two bottom tier teams at 0-3 face off this week. Is it too early to call it a must win? Lose, and go to an 0-4 hole that will be hard to get out. The Dawgz were busy last week, wheeling and dealing with trades revamping their entire roster it seemed. Unfortunately, they got the same result, a loss. Biggest disappointment this season? Probably second round pick Joe Mixon, as he has yet to clear an 11-point output through three weeks. The Dawgz will look to claim their first win against the Fresh Prince.
Fresh Prince of Helaire lost again last week to bring their record to 0-3. Unfortunately, the 30.50 points put up by the Buccaneers defense could not help this team to a much needed victory. James Connor was able to get back on track last week with a 24.40-point performance as well, but was effectively cancelled out with a 2.70-point output by Leonard Fournette. They need a bounce back from Gardener Minshew if they want to win this week. Which team will get their first win this week, and which team will continue to be the only win-less team in the league? The battle for the bottom of the Laces division rages on!
